Life as a teacher
Looking through the pictures that I took with my Sedaya students , it's always nice that photo is able to capture the moments and memories..
Being a teacher nowadays is challenging and definitely different from the old time, other that instilling knowledge and values into students mind, we also portray ourselves as their friends. Thus they will not hesitate to come to us when they encounter problems.
During my time, most of my teachers were serious and strict. They got zero tolerance for nonsense and I'm always scared of their laser stare. Their stare might be able to slice me up like fruit ninja. However I can't be over friendly till my students climb up to my head, thus i apply and linean but mean business kinda style with my students.Time to study and time to play,
Why do I choose to be a teacher?
I enjoy spending time, teaching teenagers and children,
Not to say that im able to produce zero failure rate but at least I'm able to make a slight difference in their learning experience.
Why do I choose to teach Mandarin?
Well, my major was in Chinese Studies, why not spread the knowledge to the next generation. thus what I've learnt is not going down to the drain. I practice what I had learnt.
Thanks for giving me such an valuable experience, let's cherish the memories together.
Last bu not least, Good luck to all PMR candidates.

Mid Autumn Festival

260811 Sedaya Graduation Night
One day, Zeboss suggested to hold this year's graduation ceremony in the hotel. Then i was assigned to form my committee to come out with the games. Should be no problem with that as my students were very co-operative and willing to help out, and most importantly they are obedient . Everything went well over the week until i saw the detail of works for the teachers, my name were stated at the Games MC column and also the decoration column. And the event is only a week away
, i pushed my panic button
. I need time to prepare the script, figure out how to decorate the ballroom. Seriously I dont have much time left, why didnt they inform me in advance? A superwoman, I am not. And why in the first place did they pick a Mandarin teacher as the MC? I'm sure that the English teachers speak better English than me.
On that praticular day (26/8/11) , after seeking permission from Zeboss I took my students out to decorate the ballroom. But to my surpirse, the ballroom blacked out while we were blowing the balloons and got no choice but to decorate in the dark. Ironically, the rest of the ballroom were working well. Did they did it on purpose or what? Time was not on our side as school dismissed earlier on Friday and i was stucked in the jam while driving back to school.
Then I was stuck in the jam again while on the way to the hotel, it was the hari raya cum school holiday jam. Then some random dude from the car in front waved to me,
speechless..not like im wearing anything revealing.
Overall, the games went smoothly and I couldn't have done this without my students' help. I owe them a big thank you for their effort and time. You cant imagine what we had gone through, im thankful enough that the event is finally over.

Picture says a thousand words
I believe picture says a thousand words and this is a useful visual aid while lesson is conducted. As students are able to visualise better with picture rather than just looking at words. This time i decided to do something new in class, I asked my students to help me with the drawing. Fyi, it seems that god forget to pour the artistic part on me. So my drawing skill remains at pre-school level TT4TT.
#Picasso in the making
#Hazim, me, Vincent who is standing like a stick=.=
#Hanis , me
#Fatihah, me & Hanis
#Bell bell, me
#Tada~the master piece~
the flower pot and fishes which were beautifully drawn,
but somehow the people turned out as naruto character
guess my students are anime fans.
guess my students are anime fans.
Since my drawing skills are way below average, I admire those who are able to express themselves by drawing. But the bright side is I'm still capable to express my thoughts by words. In short, try not to compare with others on what you do not possess but look deep inside yourself and you might discover your hidden talent.

Exam blues
Hi peeps, enjoying your weekend?
It has been a week of invigilating and marking test papers. From my past experience, invigilating is more tiring than teaching. As I'll be walking around the class, attending to students who need extra answer sheets.
I know STUDYING =STUdent + DYING. I seem to more stressed out than my students as my pimples are popping and dandruff are falling like snowflakes, arghhh. I had tried my best to help them, hope my students gonna do well.*finger crossed*
However, when I started marking the marks are way far from satisfactory, *bang walls* my heart dropped into the bottom of the valley. Sigh, is it my fault or they are just not interested? Kaolat, looks like it's my turn to write report to explain why the passing rates are low. This is very sad and disappointing if you read my emo post few days back, it's about the grades.
Few days back, while I was rushing against time to do revision with my students, some of them were willing to ask if they still had doubts about the subject, im more than happy to clear their doubts. But, some just ignored and happily think mandarin is not important and they even tell me that it's a useless subject. =.= how disrespectful and im kinda immune with this sorta remarks.
Now it's not easy being a language teacher, as most students are more focused on maths and science subject. Hence, the standard of language is slowly deteriorating as less people emphasized on the importance of language. They will be okay in daily conversation, but they gonna looked awful on paper. I can shower them with knowledge but if they are not willing to absorb, I cant do anything.
Are there any more effective method to study?
I need help~

Impossible is possible
When I was told that my colleague and I were in charge of the Chinese Fan Dance, I pushed my panic button. Why me? Nooooooooooooo.. The voice was screaming inside my heart. Dancing seems like an impossible and unreachable task for me. For those who know me well, breaking planks and sparing seemed to be an easier task for me. Fyi, the performance was two weeks away, do I even have enough time to teach?
With zero knowledge in dancing, I searched high and low in youtube looking for suitable dance moves to master within 2 weeks. I can settle with something presentable and easy.
My friends said it's rather impossible for me to teach dancing as I used to spar my ass off during tkd practice. Apart from our hectic timetable, we squeezed every bits of free time to supervise our students' progress.
After the first full dressed rehearsal, im flattered when i received positive comments from my colleague,
I felt the burden on my shoulder was slightly lighter. On that concert night, my girls were really stressed out as they were worried they wont be able to maintain the same standard==. I hugged them before they went on stage.Although we were exhausted but when i saw camera flashes while i was recording their dance routine~I knew they nailed it. Big wide smile ^_______________^
Thinking of carrying their costume from the 8th floor in Kuen Cheng School and going all the way to Petaling Street to get their dancing fan is totally worth it now.
Thanks to my colleagues Ms Wan and Ms Foh, our girls wouldn't make it without both of you, our teamwork rules~
Thanks to my students who were willing to sacrify their time to practice, you all made us proud from the very first moment you all performed on stage~
The valuable lesson for this story is if there is a will, there will be a way.
It's never too late to start practicing for whatever thing if there are hard work, commitment and determination involved.

0807 Sedaya Night 2011
Sedaya night was held a day before the "Bersih" rally, as you know that there were road blocks hence the traffic was super duper jam and I was stuck in one of the Subang Jaya roundabout for at least 45 minutes. It's so near yet so far, at one point i felt like walking was faster than driving. I felt frustrated to the max because i was in my car and the traffic remained stagnant for so long!!! But my goodness, i was only 10-15 minutes late, where some of the teachers were stuck in the jam for 2-3 hours T.T I was lucky compared to them, I shall stop complaining from now on.
#My outfit for the night~
